New Partnership Rights in Washington

Pink News reports that the US state of Washington has signed into law a Domestic Partnership Expansion bill that will provide more than 160 new rights and responsibilities to registered domestic partners. Read the full story at: The US law in relation to partnership rights seems to be getting increasingly complex but on the plus side there does seem to be far more of a public debate around this issue than was ever the case with the Civil Partnership Act. The end result is that in the UK we ended up with a law that pleased some, offended others and that continues to be interpreted in different ways by the gay community and constructed differently by academics and the drafters of the legislation (see earlier post on Barbara Roche here).
