Porn Departs LA?

LA-porn-condom-law-1

It is arguably unsurprising, but the LA Times reported at the end of last week that porn studios appeared to be heading out of LA County.

The move follows the introduction of a new law requiring the sue of condoms in porn shoots within LA County.  Porn studios warned at the time that this would simply result in them leaving (and act as a warning to other areas thinking of introducing such laws).

Only two permits have been issued so far this year, compared with around 500 annually ordinarily.  As such, it is early days but may well suggest a significant drop.

The law represents just another legal tool in the battle against HIV and STD infection, and a blunt one at that.  The restriction is upon bareback rather than safe sex per se, and moreover, the visual presentation of safe sex.  You can check out my various previous (and longer) posts on these legal responses by using the search option further down this screen on the right.  You can access the search engine from any blogpost.
